FAQ

How to rent fishing gear

We are Open 7am-7pm - 7 Days a Week

Choose your gear and dates. Pay for your rental at the time of the reservation.

24 Hours before your reservation date, we will contact you to confirm drop off.

When your rental period is up, we'll meet you any place on Pensacola Beach to pick up the gear.

Just visit the Fishing Rentals  page and select the package that’s right for you. Besides the rods & reels, each setup comes with a cooler, rod holders, FishGum bait, Pompano rigs and a tackle box with a measuring tape, knife (or scissors) and pliers.

All day! We drop off the gear the evening before your rental, between 7-8PM. When your rental period is up, we’ll come pick it up again between 7-8PM that day. Delivery and Pickup are always free.

We have new 9 foot Penn rods and reels, spooled with 300 yards of 50 lb. test PowerPro brand braided line. We also have 7 foot kids’ rods with 30 lb. test PowerPro line.

You also get the following, included with every rental package:

  • 36 qt. IGLOO marine cooler
  • Pompano Rigs
  • Pyramid Weights (4 oz for adult rods and 3 oz for kids’ rods)
  • FishGum bait
  • Sand Spikes (rod holders)
  • Tackle Box
  • Tape Measure
  • Multi-tool (or scissors and pliers)

The official answer to this is: we need at least 24 hrs. notice. HOWEVER, if it’s early in the day and you want a drop off that evening, just go to the Fishing Rentals page and try… if gear is available, you’ll be able to rent it in time for that day’s drop time (between 7-8 PM)

We only offer our drop off and pickup services between 7-8 PM daily, however you can always make arrangements with us to pick up the gear from an agreed upon location/person, such as in the lobby of a hotel or from a friend or family member. At drop off, the renter does need to be present with ID that matches the credit card used to pay for the rental.

Fishing is a “rain or shine” activity. As an experienced fisherman will tell you though, they’re often biting the most in a light rain. However, we offer full refunds if you cancel at least 12 hrs. before your scheduled drop off.

We watch the weather carefully on the beach, especially during hurricane season (June to November). If there’s a severe storm or hurricane warning, we will contact you to cancel or reschedule your rental. You can also cancel your rental for a full refund for any reason, up to 12 hrs. before the rental period begins.

We do not hold any security deposits for our rentals. Please be sure to review the Terms of Service; we do charge for the replacement of any damaged or non-returned gear.

We do not accept cash and our representatives do not carry any cash.

We come to you. Just let us know where you’ll be staying when you make the reservation. Our delivery person will also contact you the day of your rental to confirm drop off location. When your rental is done, we can pick the gear up from any place on Pensacola Beach. You just have to let us know where to meet you when we contact you for pickup. Drop off and pickup are always FREE.

Absolutely. We have 7 foot rods for kids; they’re a little easier to handle than the adult 9 foot rod. Most kids between the ages of 8-17 can quickly learn to cast a 7 foot rod.

Sure we can! Watch this short how-to video about surf fishing first and if you still have questions, you can email us or hit us up in the chat. You can also ask your delivery guy or gal for pointers when they bring you the gear.

Yes! A Florida Fishing License, can be purchased through Official Florida Fishing and Hunting Licenses | Go Outdoors Florida and is required for all Florida residents and non-residents fishing. Kids under 16 don’t need a license. Neither do Florida residents 65 and older. Other states’ residents DO need a license, regardless of being over 65. We made a video to show you how to quickly obtain the right license, you can view it midway down on the Home page.

Use the tide chart (shown at the bottom of each page in this website) to your advantage! Some fish like an incoming tide. Some fish like an outgoing tide. The best fishing is when the tide is moving. Fish action is highest in the evening at dusk and right at dawn. Take a break in between when it gets too hot and have fun! Catch ’em up!!

Species ranging from pompano, red drum, black drum, bluefish, flounder, mangrove snapper, spanish mackerel, spotted sea trout, sheepshead, ladyfish (a poor man’s tarpon) and even red snapper and black snapper can be found swimming up and down the barrier island.

FishGum is included in your fishing package, but you can also try baits like shrimp, sand fleas, and fiddler crabs purchased at any bait and tackle shop.

Pro Tip: Shrimp can be stored in your cooler and kept alive by placing it in a baggie from the bait shop on top of your ice. Or you can try and catch sand fleas with your hands in the sand on the beach near the water. You can also find fiddler crabs running up and down the beach.

Fishing rules and regulations can be found at Saltwater Recreational Fishing Regulations or you can download the Fish Rules app from the Google Play or Apple Store. Enable Location Services to see site-specific regulations for your location.

Cut the line and tie on a new knot. Not sure how to tie one? Check out these videos for a quick how to.

You may request a full refund up to 24 hrs. before your rental period begins, for any reason. Refunds are processed the same day. Please check with your financial institution for any details related to refunds.
